Bot Language

Guardy speaks English and Spanish. Each member sees private replies in their own Discord language, and you choose the language Guardy uses for public posts in your server. Bot language is free on every plan.

Spanish is one neutral Spanish that reads naturally in Spain and Latin America.

Change the server language

  1. Open Settings → Server in the Guardy dashboard for your server.
  2. Under Bot language, choose Automatic, English or Español.
  3. Save. New public posts use the new language.

You need Manage Server or Administrator in the server, or be the server owner, to change it.

ChoiceWhat Guardy uses for public posts
AutomaticYour server's language in Discord, when it is English or Spanish. Any other language uses English. Once Guardy has seen your server, the dropdown shows which one applies today.
EnglishAlways English.
EspañolAlways Spanish.

Only Community servers can set a server language in Discord, so other servers on Automatic use English. Choose Español to use Spanish without turning on Community. If you change your server language in Discord later, Automatic follows it.

Who sees which language

Each member's own Discord language:

  • Replies only they can see, such as command confirmations and errors
  • Buttons, menus and forms they open
  • Command descriptions and choices in Discord's command list

If a member uses Discord in a language other than English or Spanish, they see English.

Your server's Bot language:

  • Public posts, such as ticket panels, role menus and server logs
  • Direct messages Guardy sends on the server's behalf, such as moderation notices to a member

Moderator actions never switch the language. A Spanish-speaking moderator banning someone in an English server still sends the notice in English.

Posts keep their language

A post stays in the language it was published in, including when you edit it later. Changing Bot language affects new posts only, so your server never ends up with half-translated panels.

What always stays the same

  • Command names stay English, like /remind or /ticket-panel, so they work the same for every member. Their descriptions and choices show in each member's language.
  • Your own text is never translated. Names, welcome messages, reasons, form questions, ticket messages and anything else you or your members type appear exactly as written.
  • The dashboard is in English. When Guardy points a Spanish-speaking member to the dashboard, it names the button or page as it appears there.
  • Images Guardy draws, such as rank cards, are in English.
  • If a message does not have a Spanish version yet, Guardy shows it in English rather than leaving it blank.

Ask Guardy

Ask Guardy answers in the language you write to it in. Its buttons and notices follow your Discord language, the same as other private replies. In direct messages, where Discord does not share your language, Guardy keeps using the language of your last Ask Guardy interaction.

FAQ

Do members need to change anything?

No. Private replies already follow each member's Discord language. Members who use Discord in Spanish see Guardy in Spanish without any setup.

I chose Automatic but Guardy posts in English. Why?

Your server's language in Discord is not Spanish, or your server is not a Community server and cannot set one. Choose Español to post in Spanish anyway.

I switched to Español. Why is an old panel still in English?

Posts keep the language they were published in, even after edits. New posts use Spanish.

Will Guardy translate our welcome message or rules?

No. Guardy never translates text you write. Write it in the language your members read.

Can I use a language other than English or Spanish?

Not yet. Guardy currently supports English and Spanish. Any other Discord language uses English.
