Ask Guardy
Tell Guardy what your server needs, in your own words, and it drafts the exact changes for you. Nothing happens until you approve, and most changes can be undone.
Where to ask
- Dashboard: open Ask Guardy in your server's sidebar and type what you want, such as "set up a ticket desk so members can ask my staff for help privately".
- Discord: use
/ask question:in any channel of your server. The reply is private to you, and the conversation continues in your DMs with Guardy, where you just type. A DM goes to the conversation you last used from Discord, for 24 hours. /askwith no question shows what Guardy can set up in chat. It sends nothing to the AI and uses no credits.
If your DMs from the server are closed, or you have an open conversation with that server's staff, the conversation stays in private replies in the server. To keep chatting by DM, turn on direct messages for that server in Discord's privacy settings. Each conversation is private to the person who started it.
What it can set up in chat
- Create text channels, categories and forums; channels and categories can be private to admins, staff or chosen roles
- Rename channels and categories, change a channel's topic, move a channel into a category, and choose who can see an existing channel
- Create roles and give them to members (up to 3 people per proposal)
- Add Guardy's recommended spam protections and set up a private moderation log
- Change Welcome & Goodbye, Levels and Tickets settings
- Tickets: who handles them, the panel, ticket types, form questions and who is pinged
- Post a role menu
- Add Levels reward roles
- Set up Suggestions, including the forum it uses
A new role always starts with no permissions. Guardy works from your server's channels, roles and Guardy settings; it does not read members' messages.
What it hands off
For everything else, such as Auto Roles, Custom Commands, Giveaways, Messages, the join gate or ticket automation, Guardy says it can't set that up in chat yet and gives you a button to the right dashboard page, often the exact section. A reply that only points you to a page usually costs no credits.
When something can't be done as asked, Guardy says so plainly and drafts the parts it can. For example, it can't change an existing role's permissions, give out a role with powerful permissions, or edit a channel Guardy can't see.
Review and approve
Every reply that proposes changes shows each one, with what it looks like now and after. In the dashboard you can:
- Leave out changes you don't want
- Edit names, topics, messages and who gets a role, for free, then save your edits as a new draft
- Ask Guardy for changes in plain words
In Discord, choose Approve and confirm. Proposals with more than 6 changes, or with something that needs a closer look, are reviewed in the dashboard instead.
Approving uses no AI credits. Guardy checks each change against your server again as it makes it, and stops if anything changed. It makes the changes as itself, with your approval noted in Discord's audit log, and you can only approve a change you could make yourself in Discord.
Undo
After a proposal is applied, use Undo on a single change, or Undo all in the dashboard. Guardy is careful about what it takes back:
- A role is removed only if nobody has it and it hasn't changed.
- A channel is removed only if nothing was posted there, and a category only if no channels were added to it.
- Changed settings go back to how they were.
- A role menu is taken down; members keep their roles.
- Turning Suggestions off keeps the forum and its posts in Discord.
- A ticket desk goes back only if nobody changed it on the Tickets page since.
Who can use it
By default, the server owner and anyone with Administrator can ask. To let moderators ask too, open Settings → Guardy AI and choose Admins and moderators under Who can ask. Moderators are the roles saved under Settings → Staff → Moderator roles. Only the owner and administrators can change this setting.
Moderators have their own daily credit limit, and Guardy only describes channels they can already see. By default, only people with Moderate Members see /ask in Discord. If your moderator roles don't have it, allow /ask for them in Discord under Server Settings → Integrations → Guardy.
Plans and AI credits
Ask Guardy is included on every plan. Replies use AI credits from your server's monthly AI allowance, which resets each month:
| Plan | Monthly AI allowance |
|---|---|
| Free | 150 credits |
| Premium and Founding Member | 1,500 credits |
| Lifetime | 1,500 credits for 12 months from when AI credits launched or when you bought Lifetime, whichever is later, then 150 |
Premium, Founding Member and Lifetime servers can also buy credit packs of 1,000, 2,500 or 6,000 credits on the server's Subscription page or in Discord. Bought credits are used only after the monthly allowance runs out and last 12 months.
A reply uses up to 80 credits, and the exact amount is shown with it. Nothing is charged when a reply delivers nothing: if it fails, times out, or is too big to finish, it costs 0 credits. Approving, editing a draft and undoing are free.
A new server may also get a one-time setup budget for Ask Guardy, used before the monthly allowance. The dashboard shows it while it lasts. Each conversation and each server per day also has a spending limit; when you reach it, your proposals stay available to review.
When a server on the Free allowance runs out, it gets one free preview reply a month. Its changes can be applied once your server has credits for a reply again, for example after the monthly reset or by upgrading to Premium. See Plans for what Premium includes.
Language
Guardy replies in the language you write in. In Discord, Guardy's buttons and notices appear in Spanish when your Discord is set to Spanish, and in English otherwise.
Privacy
Ask Guardy only reads text. Files, images and stickers sent to it are not read or shared. Messages are limited to 2,000 characters.
What you write in the dashboard, in /ask and in Guardy's DMs is sent to Guardy's AI providers together with relevant server settings, so avoid sharing secrets or members' conversations. Conversations are private to you and kept for up to 90 days. See Privacy and Data and the Privacy Policy.
