Minecraft monitoring
Show your Minecraft server's status and player count in Discord. Guardy supports public Java and Bedrock servers, with up to 5 monitors per Discord server, free on every plan.
Add your Minecraft server
- Open Minecraft in your server's Guardy dashboard. Adding your first monitor turns monitoring on.
- Choose Add server.
- Select Java or Bedrock, then enter the public server address. Include
:portif your host gave you a custom port. Do not enter a website address or a password. - Under Post status in, choose the channel for the status post.
- Optionally give the monitor a name your members will recognise. Without a name, Guardy uses the address.
- Use Test connection to preview the connection, then save.
A server that is currently not responding can still be saved. Check the edition and address first. The Minecraft server must be reachable from the internet; a local address such as localhost or 192.168.1.10 will not work.
Guardy checks the public server status. You do not need to install a Minecraft plugin, provide RCON access or spend AI credits.
Read the status
Guardy checks about every 3 minutes and updates the same Discord post. It shows the latest result, the player count when available and when the check happened.
Not responding means Guardy could not get a status response. The server may be offline, restarting, blocking status checks or having a network problem. It is not proof that every player has disconnected. The displayed player count comes from the Minecraft server's response. A first failed check shows Checking connection; Guardy waits for three consecutive failures before showing Not responding.
Members can use /minecraft status for a private reply with the latest saved reading. If more than one monitor is available, choose one in the server option. The command only shows saved monitors whose status channels the member can view. It does not query arbitrary addresses or force a fresh check.
Optional alerts
Alerts are off until you enable them for a monitor. When enabled, Guardy posts a connection alert in the same status channel after 3 consecutive failed checks, then posts a recovery alert when it responds again. A brief failed check does not send an alert.
Checks normally happen about 3 minutes apart, so detection takes several minutes. Alerts are not instant uptime guarantees and do not mention everyone.
Optional voice counter
Choose one existing voice channel if you want a status and player-count indicator in the channel list. Guardy renames that channel; it does not create a new one. Use a channel intended for this purpose.
Voice channel names update about every 10 minutes, so they can lag behind the status post. Guardy needs Manage Channels to rename the selected channel.
Permissions and troubleshooting
For a status post, Guardy needs View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links and Read Message History in the selected text or announcement channel. Keep that channel visible only to the members who should see the Minecraft address.
- The check fails: confirm the Minecraft edition, public address and port with your host. Being able to join from your own home network does not prove the server is reachable from outside it.
- A status post is unconfirmed: check Discord before using Retry status post in the dashboard. Retry only if the post is missing, to avoid creating a duplicate.
- The post does not update: check the last-check time and the dashboard's error message. Restore channel permissions if they changed.
- The counter does not update yet: allow about 10 minutes, and check Guardy can manage the selected voice channel.
- The slash command cannot find the server: check that Minecraft is on, the monitor is enabled and you can view its status channel.
To move a status card that has already been posted, remove its monitor and add it in the new channel.
Removing a monitor stops future checks. It leaves its Discord post and selected voice channel in place with their last reading. You can delete the post or rename the channel yourself when you no longer need them.
Moving from MCStatusBot? Read the replacement guide for a setup and verification checklist. Guardy does not import MCStatusBot's settings automatically.
