AFK status

Use /afk when you are stepping away. Guardy tells people who mention you that you are away, and clears your status when you send a message in that server. AFK is free on every plan and needs no dashboard setup.

Set your status

  • /afk sets an away status without a reason.
  • /afk reason:Back after lunch adds an optional reason, up to 200 characters.
  • Add the optional duration to clear your status after 30 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, 1 day, 1 week or 30 days. Sending a message still clears it earlier.

The command confirmation is private and shows when your status expires. Your reason is shown to people who mention you, so only include something you want the server to see. Run /afk again to replace your reason and duration, or omit the reason to remove it.

When someone mentions you

Guardy replies in the same channel with your away status and how long you have been away. The reply does not ping you again. Self-mentions, bot messages and webhook messages do not trigger notices.

Notices are rate-limited to keep busy conversations readable. Repeated mentions may not receive another reply immediately.

When you return

Choose Clear AFK in your private confirmation, or send a normal message in any channel in that server where Guardy can see it. A message accepted by Guardy's moderation clears your status. Your status in another server is separate. A button from an older status cannot clear a newer one.

Your status survives a bot restart. It expires after your chosen duration, or after 30 days when you leave duration empty. It is also removed when Guardy observes you leaving the server or your personal data is erased.

If /afk does not appear, check Discord's app-command permissions. If Guardy cannot reply in a channel, check its View Channel and Send Messages permissions, including Send Messages in Threads for a thread.
